Garden City Farms

Rene Michalak is an enterprising project manager, renewable energy electrician, permaculture designer, biomimicry professional, and open-source technology enthusiast. He collaborates with leaders, cities, businesses, and agencies to identify and implement natural-systems-based solutions to human, social, and infrastructure problems. Rene is presently studying smart microgrid, solar PV, and renewable energy technologies for applied research applications.

Garden City Farms has multiple market garden project sites that grow vegetables, fruit, grains, flowers and other riparian and perennial plants with the majority of produce grown going to the Red Deer Food Bank, soup kitchens, and those in need. We sell the remainder through special events, local markets, and local restaurants. We also sell worm castings, open-pollinated heirloom seeds, and educational workshops, internships, and apprenticeships for youth interested in careers in urban agriculture and renewable energy.
