Carifest is Calgary’s annual Caribbean festival that has brought the islands together since the early 1980s. Founded by members of the Caribbean community, the event was created to share and celebrate the vibrant cultures of the Caribbean through music, dance, food, and art. Each summer, thousands gather to enjoy a lively downtown parade featuring colorful costumes, steelpan bands, and cultural performances, followed by a family-friendly festival at Shaw Millennium Park. Carifest showcases the diversity of Caribbean nations while uniting people of all backgrounds. It remains one of Calgary’s largest multicultural festivals and a proud celebration of Caribbean heritage and unity.
