Social Enterprise Fund

Alex works at the Social Enterprise Fund (SEF), a social finance fund dedicated to community economic and social development by investing in Albertan social purpose organizations. His role is to analyse investments and study their social benefits to communities. Prior to SEF Alex worked for Edmonton Community Foundation to advise donors on community systems and the nonprofit sector to help guide philanthropy. This work led to his being selected as Canada’s first Community Philanthropy Fellow, which entailed a project to explore how data sharing can improve funding systems. As part of that work, Alex was invited to sit on advisory committees and projects for Homeward Trust, Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, and the Alberta Nonprofit Network, as well as helping to start Data For Good Edmonton and the Alberta Nonprofit Data Strategy. Alex has expertise in social finance, community systems, and data sharing.
